Egyptian architect Mohamed Kamal is a multidisciplinary designer whose work bridges architecture, graphic design, and product design. Educated at Northeastern University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture, Mohamed developed a rigorous design foundation shaped by academic excellence and global exposure. His time in Boston refined his technical precision and deepened his understanding of architecture as both a conceptual and practical discipline.
From early in his career, Mohamed demonstrated a strong ability to merge creativity with structure. His professional journey spans leading design studios and international firms, including Dar Al Handasah, Studio Five, Design Point, and Abacus Architects. Across these roles, he has led conceptual and schematic phases for large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, translating client visions into comprehensive architectural solutions. Mohamed’s design philosophy is rooted in clarity, coordination, and craft. Whether developing exterior concepts, producing advanced 3D visualizations, or overseeing on-site modifications, he approaches each project with strong organizational discipline and attention to detail. His proficiency across software platforms — including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, SketchUp, Lumion, and the Adobe Suite — supports his ability to move seamlessly from concept to execution.
Mohamed is the grandson of Mohamed Kamal, who's most celebrated achievements include his role in the expansion of the Great Mosque of Mecca (Al Masjid al‑Haram) and Al‑Masjid an‑Nabawi in Medina, two of the holiest sites in Islam. Chosen by the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, Ismail supervised and designed major expansions of these sacred mosques at a scale unprecedented in centuries. These projects vastly increased the capacity and functionality of the mosques to accommodate the growing numbers of pilgrims, incorporating innovations such as advanced structural design and climate‑responsive materials.
